"Waiting for backup infrastructure"

Post by aaron@ARB »

Hi all,

I have 20VM's and have 1 job per VM. I have the default installed Proxy set for a maximum of 12 tasks (or whatever the terminology is) and the disk storage that they are going to set for 4, however when the jobs start (they all start at the same time, i rely on the maximum tasks of the backup storage to limit it) i cannot seem to get over 3 jobs running rather than the 4 that is set for the backup storage.

Fo example at the moment I have 4 jobs that are 'running' but 2 of them are sitting like below

21/02/2014 1:13:19 PM :: Job started at 2/21/2014 1:13:17 PM
21/02/2014 1:13:21 PM :: Building VM list
21/02/2014 1:14:42 PM :: VM size: 3.6 TB (528.7 GB used)
21/02/2014 1:14:42 PM :: Changed block tracking is enabled
21/02/2014 1:14:46 PM :: Waiting for backup infrastructure resources availability

Is there somewhere else that i need to set the number of jobs that can run at any one time? FWIW, i am running an ESX 5.1 environment connected to a Dell EQL SAN and VEEAM is running on a physical host connected to the iSCSI network using san transport mode.

TIA

Aaron, what Veeam B&R version are you at? If it is v7, do you have parallel processing enabled in the product options? Is there a chance that some of your VMs have several virtual disks? "Task" in terms of v7 is a single VM disk, so given 4 disks are currently being processed by the running jobs, everything looks as expected. You can click the particular VM in the list to the left in the job session window to see its processing details.

Yes that would explain it as all our VM's are more than 1 disk, often 4-5 disks...

So, if you want to run more than 2 jobs simultaneously, be aware, to increase the number of backup proxy/repository tasks in accordance with the number of virtual disks the corresponding VMs have. Thanks.
