Processing rate 6mb/s
Hi sirs..
To begin, sorry for my english..
I've got a problem with Veeam Backup 7, last release.
The processing rate of scheduled jobs is VERY VERY VERY slow... 6mb/s.
This is an example:
Summary:
Duration 16:55:31
processing rate 6mb/s
Bottleneck target
Data:
Processed 700 GB (100%)
Read 207 gb
Transferred 167,1 GB (1,2x)
So a job take up to 20h to complete...
We have a esxi 5.5 host where VM are stored (raid6 with 6 sas hdd 15k rpm) that is a fujitsu primergy rx300 s7, with dual cpu and 40gb ram.
The backup destination is a NAS Synology DS1511+
Veeam is installed on a win2008 server r2 standard x64 VM
I verify the situation on other our customers.
So i verified that where is Veeam 6.5 i have processing rate 220 mb/s, in one other customer where there is veeam 7 the processing rate is 8mb/s
How can i find the problem?? i'm working with vmware and veeam from about 1 year, so i don't have so much experience...
Thanks a lot!
Fabio

Fabio, bottleneck target means that the write speed to the target storage is the weakest point in data processing chain. Are you using reversed incremental backup mode by any chance? How do you add the NAS to Veeam B&R console (what type of backup repository do you use for it)?

Re: Processing rate 6mb/s
Also, I'm wondering what type of RAID is being used by target device. Thanks.

Do you use the same target NAS box in these cases?fabioloc wrote:So i verified that where is Veeam 6.5 i have processing rate 220 mb/s, in one other customer where there is veeam 7 the processing rate is 8mb/s

thanks all for reply!
@foggy
Yes, i use reversed incremental backup mode.
I added the NAS in the backup repositories section, type "shared folder", proxyng server "automatic selection", vpower nfs enalbled ("this server" option)
@v.eremin
In target destination (NAS) there is a RAID5 with HotSpare
@Vitaliy s.
The other customers have the NAS Synology, same brand, but different models that are less powerful than the NAS of the customer with the problem.

Re: Processing rate 6mb/s
Forward incremental backup mode will improve your job performance. Here is an existing for further reading > Reverse vs daily transform?
Also mounting you NAS box to the any Windows server should also improve the performance as traffic will not go back and forth over the network (the case when using CIFS shares as repositories).

Also, RAID 10 should give you better performance. Raid 5 has certain IOP penalty which might result in decreased backup performance, especially, when reversed incremental is being used. Thanks.
