View only cluster or hide excluded items

Post by zomb66 »

Hello.
Please tell me how I can be configured so that the information was collected only for specific cluster and business view not display other clusters in the vcenter.
Settings tab in the VI management servers as I understand taken from Veeam ONE. Now there is one added vсenter and business view displays all information on it.
Tried in Veeam ONE disable monitoring of other datacenters and clusters, they moved to the status of excluded, but still visible in Business VIEW and Veeam ONE with status (excluded)

Thank you for help.

Hello Igor,

Can you please clarify your request? Do you have a multi-tenant environment? It is not possible to completely hide all collected objects, but you can try to do the following:

1. Open Business View website
2. Navigate to Workspace tab
3. Either use exclusions from categorization or leave the required objects as uncategorized

In this case you will not see these objects in Monitor Client in the Business View tab.

Let me know if that helps!

Yes, we have a multi-tenant environment.
It would be desirable to users visited web-site and see only a specific cluster of vcenter.
It is possible?

Currently limiting the visibility scope is not possible, but we are planning to add this capability in next releases. On a side note, do you assign permissions on the cluster level only? Do you use multiple domains for yourself and your tenants? If yes, do you have any trusts between these domains?

We assign permissions on the cluster level.
In Veeam Monitor Client all good, visible only specific cluster.
As far as I know the data in a Business view come by job from Veeam Reporter
But in Veeam Reporter - job of collected data failed with error:
Failed to RetrieveProperties: "". Insufficient privileges. You need to have 'System.Read' privilege on 'Folder:group-d1' object.

What permissions do you have for Veeam account? On what object have you assigned it?

I recreate database in Veeam Reporter, then added the right to read only on the vcenter root. Now all is well, only visible in the web desired cluster

Yes, adding permissions on the root level was the key here, however I didn't understand why you had to recreate the database...
