Help with Backup Policy.

Post by haris2887 »

Hello all.
I have facing some issues with implementing my backup policy in veeam.

I have 1 VM I want to backup. This VM is a 5TB

For this VM I want to keep
30 min Backups for 7 days (total 16 Backups per day ----> 112 Backups per week) = Retention Policy is 112 ?
Weekly Backup of 5 Weeks
Monthly Backups for 12 Months
1 Yearly backups

My question is for each of the above backups does that mean I have to a seperate backup job ? in a reversed incremental scenario that means i wouls have atleast 4 Full backups ?

Just want to know what others are doing ? I am a bit confused .

You can either have separate jobs or use a single backup copy job that allows to implement GFS retention (though, each GFS restore point will still be stored as a full VBK file).
