Feature Request - Email Report on Success or Fail

Pretty simple.

Allow configuration of an SMTP server to send email on either success and or fail

Not sure if it supports write success / fail to event log ...

Failure/Success emails would be great!
I'd say most cases people would just want failure emails, so they can know when something is wrong.

Personally I would like to receive an email for success and failure. Otherwise you have to assume that a backup was successful (because you didn't receive an email) while it might be possible that there was a problem sending the failure email.

Currently there is (in event viewer) under Applications and Service Logs -> Veeam Backup quite a few events. (Don't forget it is beta so subject to change)

Event 23050 with source Veeam EP tells you that the job has started
Event 10010 with source Veeam EP tells you that the restore point has been created
Event 150 with source Veeam EP tells you that it has finished with success or failed depending on the state
Event 0 with source Veeam Backup tells you that the session has been completed

Have not tested yet, but the plan was once VBR is enabled as a backup target use the general email notifications for Endpoint backup sessions.

The email report would be very helpful where we would use VEB as a replacement for Windows Server Backup and we don't have monitoring agents in place (some small clients). Where we do have the agents (Kaseya), we would use Event Log monitoring for alerts.

some way to report if backups are not happenning... to admin email address. possible when backing up to a Veeam Enterprise backup repository it could warn computerX has not been backup up on N days?

Do you want to see something like we have for Veeam ONE, Kaseya, LabTech and MP for Backup where were have a predefined report named Protected VMs/Servers? In this report we list all computers and their latest restore points.

Yes, that would be fine... is that working now with Veeam ONE and Endpoint? Admins just need to be notified if a backup is not occuring.

My vote is definitely for email notifications on success/failure/warning just like we get for B&R.

While we're at it I wouldn't mind having a secondary SMTP server in case the primary is ever unavailable. Yes this has happened where we've manually checked backups due to the main smtp server having problems for a night.

I didn't see this in the settings anywhere, but I believe this feature is a must for any backup application. I would always expect to see such a feature both both home and enterprise usage in a backup product.

Forgive me though if it is there and I stupidly missed it...

We would very much like this feature added to the production release please! Email notification is the core of our backup business and would be the difference between us being able to use this product or not. We are currently Veeam B&R resellers and need a decent (physical) user backup tool urgently!

We could have, in minima, a pop-up indicating the end of the treatment(processing) (positive or negative).
The problem, it is because the programs of backup are so successful today that we do not pay it any more attention
From then on, If a problem appears, we do not still think of the check if there was an error.

Thank you for posting!

Would the icon in the tray indicating that something is wrong work for you? In addition when you point cursor to the icon there is a tooltip which indicate the current state of the application and backup jobs.

I don't find how to report backup issue, for example to generate a mail to the aministrator with the subject "Success" or ""Failed".
Do I miss something ?

Just want to add my 2 cents. Email notification would be awesome, I can't trust my users to tell me if they get an error.

Also, in my case email notification for the VBR repository would work for me. However, can the computer name be included in the subject of the email so that messages can be filtered properly? Also, on that note, there should be another piece of text in the subject to allow filters to differentiate between regular B&R backups and Endpoint backups. This way I can get all the VM backups in my inbox and filter to have all the endpoint backups go to another folder (so I don't get 20 emails in my inbox each time an Endpoint backup runs).
