Veeam to Tape v8

Post by spf62 »

We are looking into using the tape function in Veeam, currently we are using Backup Exec to put our Veeam backup files to tape.
My question is, will the data travel through the network to tape or can I select Direct Access SAN?

VB&R doesn't support disk-to-tape scenario. What we have in our product is disk-to-disk-to-tape functionality, meaning backups will be landed on repository first. Disk-to-disk part can use Direct SAN mode. Thanks.

Our files land on the repository now, so is there a selection to use "Direct SAN access" from that point? I don't see it

Direct SAN is referred to mode used by source backup proxy during disk-to-disk backup, and has nothing to do with disk-to-tape backup. The way backups will be transferred to tapes depends solely on how tape library is connected: FC, ISCI, network (in case of remote library), etc. Thanks.
