Support for non LTO

Post by MP230 »

Hi,

to start with the good point i am a very happy veeam customer and really like the product. Currently we backup to disk and want do add tape as a second backup destination. We have several IBM TS3500 with 10+ drives each. We started to get the libraries working with veeam, all seemed fine except some Tape operations would throw strange error messages even when just inventoring the tapes. Opened Case #00819600, after checking everything, problem is: we have IBM 3592-E07 Jaguar drives all the way... so no LTO. They work partially but thats all.

Since you can imagine that we would like to use the existing hardware (it´s not really the cheap stuff), is there any way to get non LTO drives to work with Veeam?

Regards

MP

Marcel, only LTO3 or later tape libraries and drives are supported.

Hi,

since there will be some enhancements regarding Tape support in v9, any chance on IBM Jaguar Tape drive support? :)

Hi MP230,

Unfortunately no changes: we still stick to the LTO.

[MERGED] Feature Request: IBM Jaguar

Post by flow »

As part of K-case prevention, it is a requirement to also store a copy of the data backup on tapes. We have 2 IBM tape libraries equipped with Jaguar drives and need to connect them to Veeam to be able to migrate workload from TSM to Veeam. The basic technical connection is already possible, but there is still no support release from Veeam Support. The topic is so important to us that we would support testing and release.

Hello,
correct, Jaguar drives are still unsupported (currently no plans to support it). We count your request +1 👍

Best regards,
Hannes

we have to test:
TS3500 Library
TS1140 Tape Drive

but the new one is:
TS4500 Lib
TS1160 Drives
so we need support for it.

Hello folks,

Starting yesterday IBM 3592 (Jaguar) Libraries with IBM TS1160 and IBM TS1170 drives are now officially supported with a new Veeam Backup & Replication v12.1. Feel free to test it and share your feedback with us! Thank you!
