Disaster Recovery for SMB

Hi,

we have several customers with just one physical server and about 5 to 10 virtual servers. Veeam is running
on an AD member server or member client. I have configured a daily backup job to a NAS via ISCSI. Lets assume now, that the only pysical server has been stolen and we have just received a new (empty) server. What is the best way for a disaster recovery? My idea:

1.) Install, or already have prepared, a Windows 8.1 VM
2.) Install Veeam B+R (Trial)
3.) Connect the VM to the ISCSI-Backup
4.) Restore all VMs

Will this work? Anything else I need to consider?

You're mostly right. The only thing you seem to have missed is configuration backup.

Just backup configuration of VB&R server either to the said device or to a different location. In case of disaster, restore it, once the software has been installed. That should make newly installed server aware of previously existed jobs, as well as, repository, etc.
