Veeam SQL Log Backup with db and logs moved to new location

Post by jluce »

Our SAN team installed some new SSDs into an existing SAN array and moved a database & logs over to it during the holidays. However Veeam was not updated with the new drive location for backup until yesterday when this was discovered.

Since we are doing SQL log backups on this server we expected that Veeam would not start backing up this database until Veeam performed its next incremental during the night.

Upon review this morning, once the incremental was completed on the server. The accompanying SQL log backup began indicating that it was backing up the database in question. However when we run SQL Explorer. We are given an indication that only the incremental for this database is available for restore.

So we are under the impression that we are not yet out of the woods with this database location move and are wondering what else is needed to be done to complete this evolution?

Turns out this morning everything is working as it should and the ability to recover the database that was moved now looks as it should. Guess it needed a day to catch up after establishing the initial copy of where the database has been moved to.
