Veeam v's StoreOnce

Post by Jack1874 »

Veeam v8
HP StoreOnce 4900 (NFS shares)
w2k12R2 Proxies\Repositories

Guys, we are running the above setup above and have been doing so for quite some time.

After a significant amount of testing we went with using the HP StoreOnce (NFS shares) from a w2k12R2 repository running the Windows NFS client. We know that Veeam explicitly state that they only support CIFS (SMB) from w2k12r2 ... but we opted for NFS shares as performance was night and day better.

Everything was working really well for us without issue until we recently update the StoreOnce firmware to 3.13.1, and now we believe we may be seeing issues with the SO rpc.mountd crashing taking the service \ NFS shares offline.

We get where we are with supportability but we were wondering if anyone else is running the same config (SO, w2k12r2 repositories, NFS landing zone).

Anyone??

Hi Stuart,

At what time do you see these errors occurring? During backup job runs?

Thanks!

Hello, apologies for the late response...

The NFS becomes unavailable after about 48 hours. It typically happens when the backup jobs are running.

We have since switched over to CIFS, added more proxies and the jobs are running for us... so NFS is no longer an issue.

Was just wondering if folks running NFS with Linux repositories are experiencing the same issue with the new SO firmware.

Quick search didn't return any similar issues on HP forums, but good to know you're up and running again.
