Appliance mode backup to SAN

Post by wlr3 »

Hello,

I'm currently demoing VBR and am loving it.

I'm using VA mode and backing up to an external NAS device. We will be getting another Lefthand SAN node this week and I will be using it as the new backup target. What I'm not sure of is how to connect this all up for optimum speed.

Should I mount the backup target LUN directly to the Win 2k3 VA and then use a local path in the backup configs?

Should I use VMFS or NTFS on the target LUN?

Any other hints or comments would be welcome.

Thank you and great product!

I would do exactly this, without a shadow of doubt.
