Is there a way to validate cloud backups?

I´m currently testing sending backups to a cloud provider using a backup job but I´m not entirely sure that the backups are going to be useful once I need them to let´s say recover some data using an explorer or recovering a full VM. Is there a way to test the validity of a VM to be sure that it´ll work when needed?
