SQL Log backup notifications

Post by ferrus »

We've set up SQL transaction log backup and shipping, on one of our SQL VM backup jobs.
Most things appear to be working correctly - but the e-mail notifications ignore the addresses listed in the job setting (which include our DBA's), and just e-mails the log to the addresses in the global e-mail configuration.
Not sure whether can be fixed, or whether it's a feature request.
Installed version is latest Veeam v8

Hi,

Could you please provide a screenshot of your notification settings? Does the "Test Message" button work? Also do you see any errors in job log?

Thanks

The Notification dialog is pretty standard. I've anonymized the names here - but it's two addresses, semicolon-separated.

All e-mail notifications are working, and the parent job notifications go to the correct recipients - just not the App-Aware SQL Log shipping e-mail.
That just comes to one user (listed in the Global Notification config).

Just to make sure we are on the same page - do you mean that the job sends emails to all recepients (user1, user2) when VM backup is finished but you also want to receive an email every time when SQL logs got processed by Veeam?

Thank you.

Not quite. Don't mind if the SQL Log e-mails come on their own schedule, or once a day on the parent VM backup schedule.

The problem is - the e-mail recipients, aren't inherited from the parent VM job, to the SQL Log job.
User1, User2 are set at the VM job level, and correctly receive the VM backup e-mail - but only User1 gets the SQL Log e-mail.

It's not a e-mail client issue, as User2 is missing from the e-mail header.

The described behaviour looks unexpected. Please contact support team ans post your case ID in this thread.

Thank you.
