Help! Will Instant Recovery Migrate SQL Database changes??

Post by WellMark »

Our SQL Server 2014 lost it's log files when that drive went offline this morning. I did an VM Instant Recovery from last night, so accounting can continue working in it, while I reconnect the logs and run database checks on the original.

BIG question... When I migrate these 2 virtual machines back, will the databases be updated with the information entered into the Instant Recovery today?? I.E. will the data be merged?? Or am I screwed? I guess I was just assuming they would since that's the point of the Instant Recovery, but as getting the original up and working is taking much longer than anticipated, I'm starting to wonder if the merge doesn't work on databases??

fingers crossed :(

You cannot merge two VMs. You should decide what VM you want to use further and either migrate the instantly recovered machine to production or switch back to the original VM, once it's ready.
