new user - Veeam setup question

Post by njward » 1 person likes this post

Hello,

I have setup veeam in our environment. Our Veeam backup server is a VM and we backup to DAS on this host. I'm planning to setup a Synology NAS device as a secondary location for these backups. This is technically in the same building but the opposite end of the building in the data centre of a company we share the building with. There is a fibre connection between the two locations so connectivity is good.

My question is, should I add the Synology device as a VMDK or should I connect it direct to the backup host using iscsi.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Nick

PS. we are also backing up to tape on a monthly basis.

Hi,

I don't think that you really should, it's not a recommended approach.
should I connect it direct to the backup host using iscsi.
This.

Good! So, how do you like it?

Thanks
