Hi,
is it possible that "tape server" componet directly access a cifs backup repository?
in my environment the tape server gets its data from ah virtual veeam backup server, the esx servers just have 1gbit connection... so the vm loads data from cifs share with 500mbit and sends with 500mbit to the physical tape server, the gbit connection of the esx is saturated, of course the cifs server and the tapeserver could do more but are limited to the half because traffic runs over primary veeam server?

Re: Direct Access of Backup Repository (CIFS) from Tape Serv
Hi,
Yes it’s possible. In repository options, set this tape server as a gateway for CIFS repository and you should be good.

Correct. The gateway server will be running target datamover, it cannot be executed directly on CIFS share. Thanks.

If you're doing file to tape backup job, select the tape server as the job's server and it'll go and fetch your files directly, ignoring the repository settings.
