Testing Full Restores

Post by Havgon »

I have been asked to test Full Restores of 320 VM's, to see how long it would actually take. Running vSphere 6.0 U2 with Storage DRS cluster. Restoring to test environment, VMs will not be powered on during restore. My question, how would you configure these full restores? First pass only restored 126 VM's others failed. Storage DRS causing the issue, I believe. Thanks in advanced.

Hello Javier and welcome tot the community!
Full VM Recovery should not have issues with DRS.
What kind of error did you face?
Thanks!

Not necessarily DRS, Job cannot be started. Job has failed unexpectedly. We have a DL360 G9 Dual 22 Core server (128GB RAM) as a proxy, connected directly to SAN. Using NBT at the moment. Thanks in advanced.

Did it generate any status message or something?
Job has failed unexpectedly.
And what particular error did you get?

My apologies, I figured out what was happening. Kicking off 300 restores, you run out of resources to them with (proxies). So since then setup replication instead, works much better this way. Still learning the product, thank you for your responses.
