vPower NFS as HPE StoreVirtual Quorum Witness?

Post by dcolpitts »

With HPE StoreVirtual 12.5 and later, it is now possible to use a NFS Quorum Witness instead of Fail Over Manager VM to maintain quorum. Of course, you can't run both Microsoft's "Server for NFS" and "Veeam vPower NFS Service" at the same time on a server. In our case, our VBR server is typically the only physical Windows instance in the customer's environment, which means I need to choice between one NFS service or the other. Has there been any discussion between Veeam and HPE about allowing vPower NFS to be configured as the NFS Quorum Witness for StoreVirtual? Is it possible for us to configure our own exports under vPower NFS? This is something that I think would be very beneficial to smaller customers.

If Veeam does not currently support this - I would urge you to work with HPE to investigate making it a supported feature as soon as possible.

If this doesnt work out then you can host a NFS share on a linux VM on the VEEAM server.
