vPower error/Virtual Lab error

Post by dr.bergs »

Hi Veeam
I'm trying to make a virtual lab, but keep getting an error stating: Mounting vPower NFS datastore(unable to mount vPower....
I can see in virtual center that an error occures each time...

Im running my Veeam installation as a virtual machine, I have dedicated a 100GB e-drive to the virtual machine as specified in the installation manual.

What can be the problem?

Kind regards

Would this be trying to mount as E:?

I think it needs to use the UNC path in order to work.

Unless I am thinking of something else....which given the day I am having is very possible :P

Hi Michael, it does not matter if you are running ESXi or full ESX... did you verify vmKernel presence?

Hi Gostev
The problem was with the vmkernel... I have removed the vmkernel on both hosts and add'et new ones, and vupti then I could do a vmkping towards my Veeam backup host, and everything worked again. Don't know what the reason for my vmkernel ports stopped working but everything works well again.

Best regards Michael

I have the same error.

Can someone advise on how to remove and reinstall the VMKernel on the ESX Host server?

Thanks.

Sure, here you go:

YouTube video (for ESX 3.5 hosts, but fully applies to vSphere as well)
Or you can read the manual ESX Configuration Guide (page 22)

VMkernel Interface New Virtual lab

Post by b.thoele »

[merged with existing discussion]

I'm trying to create a veeam virtual lab. My Veeam backup server is a physical server, my Vcenter server is a VM (because of CPU requirements). I'm getting a error stating.
The selected host does not have VMkernel interface configured on Veeam Backup server network. Without VMkernel interface, the host will not be able to access vPower NFS server.
Please add VMkernel interface to host using Vpshere Client, and try again.

What are they talking about?
