Failing to Add Windows Hyper-V Machine

Post by Javezim »

Hey Team,

I am attempting to add a Hyper-V Host to my Machine hosting Backup and Replication however I am getting the Following Error:
The Network path was not found.
--tr:Failed to create persistent connection to ADMIN$ shared folder on host [192.168.10.51]
--tr:Failed to install service [VeeamDeploymentService] was not installed on the host [192.168.10.51]

Have tried using the IP address and DNS Name and both come back with this Error.
I can access this \\192.168.10.51\ADMIN$ with the credentials through normal File Explorer, so why can't Veeam?
The path is fine and the credentials are of an administrative user.

Any advice on this would be great.

Thanks
foggy

Ryan, please check whether all the required ports are open. Also, you can try to install the required package manually (can be found in the Veeam B&R installation folder, under the Backup/Packages) and then retry to add the server. If nothing helps, please contact technical support for a closer investigation. Thanks.

Do you see the same issue with any other local admin account?

[MERGED] Failing to Add Windows Hyper-V 2012 R2 Machine

Post by Jesuss »

Hi:

I have a server with Windows 2012 R2 Standard and hyper-v with several virtual machines.
I have Veeam B&R Free installed succesfully, but when i try to add the server the following error ocurrs:
--Error code: 0x000000005
--Failed to create persistent connection to ADMIN$ shared folder on the host [192.0.1.204]
--FAildes to install service [veeamdeploysvc] was not installed on the host [192.0.1.204]

The account is local administrator, UAC disabled, firewall disabled, antivirus disabled, machine restarted..
I have access to \\192.0.1.204\ADMIN$\ (is the local machine)
Veeam version is 9.5.0.823

Where is the problem??

Hi Jesus,

You can try manual installation of the required package and check opened ports as described in this thread above.
If nothing helps do not hesitate to contact the support team.

Thanks!

Hi Jesuss,

You should be able to find the packages under program files\veeam\backup\packages on the machine where you installed Veeam Backup

Hi Jesus,

There are two necessary packages for Hyper-V host:
VeeamTransport.msi
VeeamHvIntegration.msi
After manual installation try to add the host to managed servers again. Thanks!

Hi:

After multiples tests, i can add the host with user administrator ONLY, with a user copy of administrator the same error occurs (i have tried with multiples user with administrative rights and always the error happens...)

Jesus,

You can use the built-in administrator accounts as it seems like you have some extra security settings specified in GPO or somewhere else that prevents you from adding target hosts via administrator account (not built-in).

Thanks!
