Hi Florian,

First: Welcome to the community.
I'm afraid I am a bit confused with your message. The 5 TRY that you have, is that information received from support? And what is exactly the problem? You boot from the created recovery media but it doesn't work? Or you are still in the progress of creating the recovery media?

Hi Mike,
thank you.
Mike Resseler wrote: I'm afraid I am a bit confused with your message. The 5 TRY that you have, is that information received from support?
No....that are the messages i recive after I tried to built a recovery medium or as I tried to recover a client
Mike Resseler wrote: And what is exactly the problem?
I have a messed up client. So I decided to use a backup to fix it.

Mike Resseler wrote: You boot from the created recovery media but it doesn't work?
Correct.

1. Program ask you, when you set up your backup, if you want to create a recovery medium

If I use that iso file to create a bootable disk or usb medium I am able to boot. But then, when it comes to the green screen, where I can choose whether to bare metal recover, use windows option, etc i am not able to go on cause i don't have a mouse or keyboard to go on (it's just missing). I tried to fix that by using different mouse's and keyboards, directly connected to pc or through usb hub. Without success.

2. Then I used the program "create recovery medium", after I read that it could be that drivers wasn't add correctly to that iso file I created first

There I have the problem that I can't create a recovery medium with a Kingston and a no name usb stick with the errors I already posted.
Mike Resseler wrote: Or you are still in the progress of creating the recovery media?
Yes

Sorry for the missing informations....i hope now is everything clear and thanks for your reply

Hi Florian,

Try to build a new bootable USB stick from scratch please.

1. Format USB stick to NTFS
2. Attach both USB devices directly to your computer
3. Run recovery media creation wizard
4. Make sure collect drivers option is checked
5. Choose USB stick as target device

Let us know how it goes. Thanks!

Hmmm,

For the support off the keyboard and mouse. (So Try 1, 2 and 3). I assume there is somewhere a special driver with this computer which is not known on that specific recovery media. Is it a special keyboard? Could also be the motherboard or something. Difficult to figure out through the forum.

For try 4 and 5: I hope that support will be able to dig deeper and figure out where things are going wrong. They solved a few of those before.
Did you tried to use Rufus or similar solution on that USB disk before? Any change you can try it with a completely new one that has never been made bootable or so?

And last but not least, you can do the following to really clean the USB device and try again

Procedure (command prompt as administrator)

Code: Select all

Diskpart
List Disk
Select Disk=number #choose the disk that is your USB device
Clean #This will delete the partition table
Convert MBR
create partition primary
I believe those commands should be enough to make that USB clean again so you can try the recovery media creation again

Let us know

Florian,

I have seen in many cases that those USB disks add their own software on it (could be a quick backup type of software or something) which makes it impossible to use our solution (or any other that can make a device bootable such as the Microsoft one) to succeed. That software is in many cases well hidden and the partition table is changed causing that error. (But a good clean ;-))

Thanks for confirming and please keep us informed on the result of the keyboard / mouse problem

so....iam in the office now.....tried to restore my computer.....and it didnt worked
no mouse, no keyboard

Image

so thats basicly the same issue as the one i recived after the first setup of veeam, where i was asked if i want to create a backup medium.
But i guess thats a different topic so i will open a new thread

Can i use the support ticket i allready used here or do i need to create a new one?

In that case, I think using the same ticket is the way to go and update that one with the latest information. Hopefully our engineers can see why those drivers are not loaded and you don't have keyboard/ mouse support
