Exclude SRM Placeholder files in Protected VM's report
Hi,
is there a simple way to exclude all VMware SRM placeholder files from the protected machines report?
The simple way to put them on the exclusion list by VM name is not the solution I am looking for.
thanks
gert

Re: Exclude SRM Placeholder files in Protected VM's report
Hi Gert,
The easiest way is probably to use a Business View component to differentiate "placeholder" VMs and actual VMs. This should be done via creation of categorization rules (dynamic or static).
And then, you can choose Business View object(s) in the report parameters.
Thanks!

I'm going to dig this one back out. I'm looking for the same thing, but in v9.5.

Hello Jay,
Have you tried to use Business View for that?
Thanks!

Re: Exclude SRM Placeholder files in Protected VM's report
I think I found a way to do it within the Monitor View. Since SRM puts a protected copy into specific datastores, and that's all that goes into these datastores, I can just exclude the datastore.
Business View has a lot of really good info in it. I think I need to start learning how to use it properly.
