Recovery media has font size issues on 4K laptop display

Post by tinkererguy »

I'm blessed to have a Dell Precision 5510 laptop with a 4K display.

but I think soon enough many more corporate and personal laptops will have such screens. Things get tricky in non-Windows OSs though, especially if the resolution or font sizes can't be manually adjusted to compensate.

When booting from a recovery USB drive created by Veeam Agent, the rendering of fonts, and the window sizes, have been greatly improved since VEB 1.5, but there are still some rough edges, with some screens pretty much illegible.

Just hoping this report helps for future releases, although I realize it's likely a low priority thing. Loving the other little tweaks and backup options, heavy testing underway...

Passed to QA and UI team. Thanks a lot!

EDIT: Paul, can you share the recovery media logs please?

Almost 5 years later, and I am still seeing the exact same issue.

Veeam Agent updated to 5.0.1.4584, recovery media created using this latest version. However, on a Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Extreme (4K display), parts of the interface are completely unusable (for example, the fields for manually setting an IP address are impossible to read or fill in).

Hello Bogdan,

Any chance you have a support case? Thank you in advance!

This being a free edition of Veeam Endpoint, I assumed that there would be no support available, so I headed straight for the community forums :) .

If I was wrong and I should open a support case for that, I would gladly do that. But again, I am perfectly aware that I should not expect paid support for a free software :) .

I will gladly provide any additional information that might help make the product better (logs, screen grabs, etc).

Hello Bogdan,

We provide best effort support for all free products and whenever you share the case ID here we can pass it directly to RnD folks. Please raise a case via Veeam Agent for Windows UI and let me know the case ID. Thank you for your help!
