Hi Yossi, please contact technical support directly. Previous posters didn't provide their support case ID's, so we cannot check for solution.

Was there ever a resolution for this problem? I ask because I am getting the same error:

Thanks,
Paul

Hi Paul
Please contact our technical support and provide us with the case number.
The others in this topic never provided a case number, so we have no chance to check their cases (if they created one).
Thanks
Fabian

Re: Failed to call RPC function 'Vss.ExploreInstances'
I know that this is an old post, but in case someone else has this issue this might help you since this was the solution for me when I had this issue.
Install the msi packages bellow that can be found in the Veeam backup & replication install location, default path: "C:/Program Files/Veeam/Backup and Replication/Backup/Packages"
1. VeeamInstallerSvc.msi
2. VeeamGuestAgent_x64.msi
3. VeeamLogBackupService_x64.msi
After installing the packages check that you have the services bellow, that they're running and set to automatic startup
1. Name: VeeamDeploySvc
Displayname: Veeam Installer Service
2. Name: VeeamGuestHelper
Displayname: Veeam Guest Agent
3. Name: VeeamLogShipper
Displayname: Veeam Transaction Log Backup Service
Verify that you also have the corresponding firewall rules
1. Veeam Data Mover (SQL Log Shipper) (In)
2. Veeam Installer Service (Veeam Backup and Replication) (In)
3. Veeam SQL Log Shipper (In)
4. VeeamGuestHelper (In)
Hope this is of help for someone

Re: Failed to call RPC function 'Vss.ExploreInstances'
Hello @MarcusPer,
Where do you install those packages ? on the Proxy Server ?
I have the same issue on V12, but it's not every days, it's some days during the week.
But not on all SQL Transaction Logs jobs. That's weird...
Cheers
