UCS Mini with Nimble and Using Veeam host

We have a Cisco UCS mini connected to our Nimble. We have a separate host with Veeam installed. We would like to utilize the storage snapshots Nimble is doing. When adding the Nimble into Veeam host it asks for the iSCSI info. How does that work since the UCS is attached to Nimble. Would it be able to still access it with the iSCSI initiators or would the Veeam backup proxy need (VM on the UCS) be better to setup the iSCSI initiators to gain access to Nimble.

I'm not 100% familiar with the Nimble architecture, i work with another storage vendor begging with 'N'

Normally the Veeam proxy needs to have access into your storage network. You could look to deploy a Veeam proxy in your UCS environment, and give that a leg into your storage network. This should then let you access the nimble API for storage integration.

Hi Brian, As Carl says above, your Veeam proxy should have access to the iSCSI network to fully leverage the Backup from Storage Snapshot and other integration experience. This could be in the form of a physical machine or virtual machine with network connectivity to the iSCSI network.

I forgot to mention that we have setup an iSCSI network which as of now the veeam backup proxy doesn't have access to.

I assume you have a VMKernel vSwitch configured for the ISCSI network? Add a VM Network port group to the vSwitch network and add a network adapter to the Veeam Proxy in that vSwitch.

Give the network adapter an IP address that's within the ISCSI network.

Make sure you don't allow DNS updates on this network adapter. I also wouldnt configure a gateway on this network.
