Backup Machines on Hyper V

Post by Summer2016 »

Hi, I am beginner and I have a little question. I just made backup jobs for my 4 VMs on a hyper V host (2012R2 GUI). Works fine. Veeam is running on VM guest (I hope this is ok), or should it run on the hyper V host?
Anyway. My question is : Should there be a possibility to backup the hostmachine as well? (sorry for the stupid question)...

Hi Marco,

That's ok, installation on the host is not required.

You can backup the host machine by the Veeam Agent for Windows. Thanks!

Ok. Thx
One more question is the bottleneck, Target, which is a NAS via 1GB.
The average speed is about 16-22Mb, which is very low I think. Should I open a case for this? It is ok as VMs are not large at the moment, but will be.

Can you create a temp backup job and target another repository? For example, the same Hyper-V host can be used for that.
Also, provide full bottleneck stats (including all components) and what type of VSS provider are you using (hardware or software)? Thanks!
