Does Veeam Backup product support SMB Multichannel?

Post by vxh6621 »

1. Does Veeam Backup product support SMB Multichannel?
2. Which SMB dialects are supported on Veeam Backup product?
3. Can Veeam Backup read from a Hyper-V Cluster SMB Share but with SMB Multi Channel?
4. Can Veeam Backup write the backups to a NAS by leveraging SMB Multichannel only?

If you are using an off-host proxy to backup VMs stored on an SMB File share (scale-out file server), then Veeam will use SMB Multichannel, and even SMB Direct if you have RDMA-capable NICs. Here's the relevant documentation page on how this works: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... tml?ver=95

From the off-host proxy to backup repository, that is using Veeam-specific transport, not SMB.
