excluding dotted folders

Post by CorbinD »

Doing a file level backup and I would like to exclude folders that begin with a . (period). Looking for correct syntax to enter into the exclude for agent for windows.

Thanks in advance

Hello Terry,

Unfortunately, it's impossible to use wildcards for file names or folder names in exclusions, so you have to uncheck this folders manually in the UI.

Thanks for the reply Dima. Unfortunately uncheck through the UI would not work. The one particular software I use creates these dotted folders as a temp work folder and then does not clean up after itself. Hence the need for wild cards.

Sounds like a good (needed) feature to add maybe.

Again,
Thanks for the response.

Terry,

It works for file names and extensions but does not understand paths. I’ve added your vote for this feature request.

Regarding the software that generates temp folders. Is it possible to point it’s cache to some specific folder? Then you could exclude such folder even without wildcards.
