Veeam Physical to USB first?

Post by wi88le »

Hi,

Does anyone know if it is possible to carry out a Veeam Physical backup to USB first then to the Veeam Repo? We have 1.2TB to backup initially over a WAN connection (50Mbps) I was hoping to do the initial seed to USB then switch to the repo directly for incremental's but cannot see a way to configure this?

Thanks

Hi,

As far as I know this should be possible to do after you rescan the backup repository (copy the required files there manually) and then point VAL job to this Veeam backup repository. Have you tried doing this?

Thanks!

Thanks, have not tried yet as at present we cannot get the backup to run successfully. I will however look into this and give it a go on a test server.

Hi Ptide,

Yeah I get "Child execution has failed. Exit code: [1]" and "Failed to load module [veeamsnap] with parameters [zerosnapdata=1 debuglogging=0]"

I am guessing it is the veeamsnap package that has not installed correctly.

Thanks

Right. Please tell us what is your distro and how, and what, packages did you install (was it a fresh installation, or an upgrade, etc.)?

Thanks

Hi,

Just as an update, we have a 3rd party who can provide support for Veeam and they had a quick look. They identified that the VeeamSnap agent had not installed correctly during initial setup. They pointed me at this article: https://www.veeam.com/kb2259 which has worked and the agent now works and begins the backup.

Hopefully helps someone else out.

The article applies to 1.x. Since 2.0 provides binary modules, that would be great if you could provide of

rpm -qa | grep veeam or

dpkg -l | grep veeam, depending on the distro that you use.

, so we can make sure that the proper version is installed.

Thanks
