include imported backups to tape jobs

Post by lmbutault »

hello,
We have two companies of the same international corp that have taken the decision to replicate their veeam backups and VMs in a win/win deal.
They both have their own veeam installation, all running 9.5U3 (one configuration server on each side) but only one company has a tape library.
We have manage to make backup copy jobs to disk to remote peer company and rescan remote repository on partner veeam server to see backups as Disks “imported”.
But both companies would like to be able to export backups to the unique tape library.
We have an issue because peer backup copy jobs are not shown in the console on the other ‘company’.
Is there any way to be able to include “Imported” disk backups in VM tape job?
Options that are not suitable:
- Partitioning the library (not possible)
- Merging in one unique Veeam central server
- Sharing a tape proxy between two veeam installations (tested, not working)
Do you have any solutions to that design issue or hidden registry keys to unlock tape copies of imported backups?

Hi lmbutault,

Have you tried using file to tape jobs? If that's an imported backup I assume it does not change, so can be processed as a regular file.

Controlling everything from a single backup server does not sound like a bad idea, as to me. Anyway, additional option might be to create a dummy backup job, map it to the backup files and select the backup job as an archival source for backup to tape job. Thanks.
