Original Veeam Endpoint Protection

Hi Guys,

Does anyone out there have the original Veeam Endpoint Protection installer which would 'install' on Server 2003 boxes?

I'm aware it's not supported and could cause issues. I'm just wanting the option for a customer who may have no other choice.

Hi Matt, I'm not sure Windows Server 2003 was ever supported by Veeam Endpoint Backup.

I thought the same. However a colleague consulted with a Veeam representative and was informed that even though it was not supported. An older version of the agent can be installed and run on 2003 boxes..

Veeam Endpoint backup was never supported. I'm afraid that the colleague or the Veeam representative was wrong. Maybe they were talking about W2003 as a VM?

These are 2003 VMs, hosted on a secondary (shared) vCenter. Would that therefore work?

If you use Veeam Backup & Replication and back them up as a virtual machine then it would. But not with Endpoint in the guest OS

Thanks for the update. Essentially, we have a setup where a secondary vCenter which is not managed by the customer houses several 2003 boxes. They want to backup them up locally with Veeam and then offsite to Cloud Connect. As the vCenter is not managed, it rules out the customer implementing B&R for these VMs. It therefore requires a form of Veeam Endpoint/Windows Agent...

I'm assuming that it also means that they cannot connect to the hosts? Otherwise you can let Veeam bypass the vCenter and talk directly to the hosts. But most probably not. Unfortunately, due to the technology we use in Endpoint/ Agent, 2003 is not supported as the underlying technology didn't exists in that OS.
