Linux FLR appliance deploy failed

Post by opskry »

VBR 9.5
Windows 2012 R2 (physical standalone server)

*Note: yes I have searched the forums and Google prior to posting ;)

TASK
Attempting to run file level restore from Linux restore point

ISSUE
Failed to mount restore point.

ERROR CONFIG #1 - Obtain IP automatically
Linux FLR appliance deploy failed: Timed out waiting for FLR helper appliance to respond. Possible causes:
1. Appliance is configured to run on different network than backup server.
2. Appliance is configured to obtain IP address automatically, but DHCP server is not available.

ERROR CONFIG #2 - Manual IP
Unable to connect by SSH to appliance.
Failed to login to host '<IPaddress-given>', port: 22, user: 'root', elevation to root: 'no', autoSudo: no, auth type: 'Password', host name: , IPs: [<IPaddress-given>].

ATTEMPTS/TROUBLESHOOTING STEPS
Config #1
Selected server to restore files from
FLR Appliance Helper - Customize
Select Server: chose esx host with space
Select Resource Pool: selected same resource pool as server restoring from
Select Network: selected same network DSwitch as server restoring from
selected Obtain IP address automatically
After ~11 minute wait, timed out with Error Config #1

Config #2
Same selections as previous, but, opted to Use the following IP address
-> tried 2x with IP address in range of Backup Server (VBR physical Win2012) and in range of selected server restoring files from
-> confirmed both IPs were not in use
After ~11 minute wait, timed out with Error Config #2

NOTES
Have tried multiple servers restoring from, with different ESX hosts, different Resource Pools, and different Network DSwitches

Am I missing something obvious? Any ideas are appreciated.

Hi,

Where is your mount server located, is it on the same network as FLR appliance?

Thanks

Thanks for the reply, apologize for the delay.

Yes, the mount server is located on the same network as the FLR appliance.

I was able to successfully configure the FLR appliance and run a file level restore.
I don't know what I did any different, but, I followed the steps to enter the IP address, do not have DHCP running.
Confirmed the Network settings: DSwitch, IP range, IP available, Subnet Mask, Gateway

Appreciate your time, thank you.
