Looking for advice on our landscape

We're currently considering Veeam to replace tape and our Backup Exec software but need advice on backup servers, storage and an offsite location. Also, due to an HR situation our group inherited support of the VMware environment last year. So we're still learning VMware and are totally new to Veeam.

We have two sites, A and B, for two companies under our corporate umbrella. A has a cluster of ESXi hosts and B has a single ESXi host. We also have a shared offsite location, call it site C, that has a 10 MB connection to both A and B. A and B also have a 10 MB connection to each other. We want to utilize C to store backups offsite.

We think we need a Veeam server at each location but aren't sure. We were wondering if you guys could suggest possible configurations.

Hello and welcome to the community!
I see 2 scenarios:

• Backup Server on site A, Backup Console on site B. On site C you deploy only backup repository for backup copies.
• Distributed Deployment. You install VBR servers on sites A and B, manage them locally or via Enterprise Manager. And deploy repository on site C.

my 2 cents here:

should you decide to stick with Scenario 1 make sure that you deploy proxy server on site B so the traffic does not flow through site A via slow 10MB link. Also you might be interested in WAN accelerator technology which has been designed specifically for usage with Backup Copy and Replication jobs going through slow links.
