Veeam 7.0 R2 with vCenter 6.5U1?

Post by feelgoodeule »

Hello,

we plan our update from 5.5 to 6.5U1 on 55 ESXi servers plus one vCenterserver.

Some of the ESXi 5.5 are backed up by backup servers running Veeam 7, others by backup server with Veeam 9.5U3.

Question:
Can I update the vCenter 5.5 first to 6.5U1? Will Veeam 7 continue to back up the 5.5-hosts now connected to a vCenter 6.5 U1?

or

Do I first have to update all Veeam-Backupserver to 9.5U3, then update vCenter to 6.5 and finally the ESXi hosts to 6.5?
Thanks for a reliable answer,

Michael

https://www.veeam.com/kb2443 describe the dependancies.... ESXi Version = vCenter Version as well (whole vSphere).

As well you can find the release notes with current supported plattforms here:
https://www.veeam.com/veeam_backup_9_5_ ... tes_rn.pdf

As well you find the Veeam Update Pathes there.

Keep in mind that you need a new license file for each major version 8.x or 9.x for Backup & Replication. If you are under maintenance you can create it on the Veeam Website in your licensing portal (just login at Veeam.com).

So you need to update the B&R Server first.
