Hello,
I have an issue about Veeam Backup. Some of our clients have asked us about compatibility of Veeam Backup with other backup apps to tape. We know with a post-job task we can do backup to tape after a Veeam Backup job, but they also want some kind of certification or verification document from developer.
I have looked for a compatibility matrix or any similar document at Veeam website, but I didn't find any. Have you any document where you certify or show compatibility with other software? It will be helpful for us, because we sale Veem Essentials with any VMware installation, and this information would remove any doubt on our clients.
Thank you very much for your answers,
David Molina

Re: Compatible backup software with Veeam
Veeam is totally tape storage software agnostic. If your software can put arbitrary files from disk to tape (and every tape backup software can do this), then this is all what is needed. Some customers are even using ntbackup from earlier Windows versions for tape backups.
There is no "integration" per say, tape software would just pickup Veeam backup files, and store them to tape. Post-job script in Veeam just triggers this tape software acitivity.

David:
As Gostev notes, up to Win2003, the built in ntbackup.exe could recognize tape. For whatever reasons, Microsoft removed tape recognition withe the 2008 built in backup -- so we had to go with Symantec BE2010, which works great.
