Disk folders on Replica Datastore ?

Post by cag »

I do not understand the folder structure that a replica job creates on the target system.

I have a VM with 3 disks total. In the veeambackup folder there are 2 folders 1 labeled as vm-name(vm-253) and another vm-name(336)
I have another VM with 3 disks total and all the files are in a single folder.

What is the reason for a VM to split into 2 folders vs 1 folder. Are these orphaned files that just take up disk space. ?

The VM that is split into 2 folders has been only replicated once (Full) the other VM has completed 3 replications.

Conrad,

Every job creates 1 folder per VM. Most likely, the "odd" folder was created by another job.

Is there a way I can determine which job is using what folder. I dont wont to remove the folders of the current job. Is the date time stamp a good way to go ?

Yes, you can check out the date stamp for each VMDK file, however the easiest way would be to search through corresponding job logs. If you need any assistance with this, feel free to reach our support team.
