Re: Other OS Support (Linux, Mac)
@iknowtech,
I am not a Mac admin, hence I'd like to clarify something - what's wrong with using ABM in conjunction with MDM for centralized deployment? Besides, as far as I understand JAMF is an MDM solution, so I think there is a slight contradiction in your post or I am just reading it wrong?
Thank you

Re: Other OS Support (Linux, Mac)
That was my point. I think a Veeam agent will need to be mass deployed through ABM and/or MDM tool. Either that or through the general Apple App Store at smaller scale. Simply stating it’s not as easy as just deploying a MSI through group policy, and will require a whole different level of effort. I think the days of just downloading and installing an app off the Internet are numbered in the Apple world.

+1 for Mac Support, this is essential for some of our clients that we are moving from other backup providers. I guess we won't fully switch to veeam then...

Hi @netfire,
How many Macs do you have in your environment and how do you deploy and manage software on them?
Thanks!

I would love to see mac support. Our organization currently has ~500 macs. We deploy software using munki to them.

Re: Other OS Support (Linux, Mac)
@abel408,
I wonder, how would you distribute one same file across all of your Macs? Can Munki do that too? Or you would place that file on a shared network folder and let your users pick it from there?
Thanks!

@PTide
how it gets there initially doesn't really matter. If we had to put them in a big pile and do an interpretative voodoo dance in front of the whole office I'd still do it.

Could you share ideally how you'd distribute software to your Macs?

+1 for the Veeam backup agent on macOS. Snapshots are a new feature of Apple's APFS filesystem.

@Macbrun,
How do you manage your Mac fleet? JAMF, Munki, something else?
Thanks!

+1 for macOS support. We manage over 600 Macs and would love to have the ability to back these up. We use Jamf as our MDM

Re: Other OS Support (Linux, Mac)
I'd probably use Retrospect or Cloudberry with Backblaze B2 as the cloud storage backend.... until Veeam makes a Mac OS client.
mdestrez wrote: ↑Jan 15, 2019 9:31 am Hi,
Our IT stock is composed of :
- 50% of macs
- 25% of windows laptop
- 25% of windows
Our need is:
- A centralised way to manage backups of all OS (backup configuration and monitoring).
- The user must not be able to change backup policy.
- Plug all agents to a Veeam cloud connect platform.
Actually we can't use veeam as desktop backup solution as mac OS x is not supported.
Thanks

Re: Other OS Support (Linux, Mac)
+1 for MacOS. Just lost another 100+ device deal because I can't do their 25 Mac's in unified portal along with their Windows ones... It was the only adverse reason they found - it's nowhere near the first time it happens either, and it is a pretty brutal showstopper cause there is nothing that you can do about it...
Veeam: It is not just about how much interest there is for Mac support at all (=sales)... It is about how many predominantly Windows customer sales that we miss out on due to the lack of Mac agents!
