Hi, just following on with the discussion relating to S3 Object Storage as a repository, will it be compatible with S3 vendors such as NetApp StorageGRID & Dell ECS ?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Any closer to an ETA for Veeam v10 ?
We did a smoke test with NetApp StorageGRID recently and it appears to work fine. We did not test Dell ECS (don't have a hardware), hopefully one of the beta testers will be able to do that.
In general, compatibility with every object storage out there is not guaranteed, as it depends on how compatible the "S3-compatible" implementation is for the particular vendor. We've already ran into a couple of vendors who either did not implement the entire protocol (including some S3 API calls we need), or implement only legacy (deprecated) version of the particular call, etc.
By the way, if any vendor object storage is interested, our Alliances have the document listing all S3 API calls we're using.

Thanks for the update Gostev, that's great news!
Do we know when the integration with object storage will be released for production use?

[MERGED] Veeam Version 10
I read an article recently about version 10 however i now understand Veeam might be looking at bringing out smaller more frequent updates. We were interested in the backing up of SMB / Cifs shares and was wondering if and when this would be coming to Veeam.

Hello Bailey,
Yes, releasing features (as soon as they are ready) via smaller more frequent updates is something that we've been doing with the recent updates.
As regards, the SMB / CIFS shares backup question, then this functionality is in the works. Cannot give you any ETA on the release, but we had a private TP build of this functionality (might be useful to know).
Thank you!

We're planning to ship NAS backup in H2 this year - it is just too early in the release cycle to say when exactly the whole release will be ready.

Hello, we reached the second half of this year.
Are there already any estimates if we will have to wait for CIFS share backup until December or when the feature will arrive?

There is no release date for now however it will be more towards the end of H2 and not the start of H2.

Also, is there any word on supporting ontap as a dedupe appliance for a repo?

Yes.
As far as ONTAP support as a repo, I am not aware of any incompatibilities even with the currently shipping version. So if you're having some issue, feel free to open a support case and we will take a look. However, let's not continue this topic here, as to not to derail this thread.

Re: Any closer to an ETA for Veeam v10 ?
Oct 15th here, are we still set for a release of v10 before 2019 ends? If not, do we have a rough idea of a release time line at this point, ie Q1 or Q2 of 2020?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: Any closer to an ETA for Veeam v10 ?
So far, all signs point at v10 being shipped in December, just like the previous major release last year... basically, 1 year is our standard major release cadence.
