Move Virtual Lab to different host

Is it possible to relocate an existing Virtual Lab to a different host? In B&R 6.5, the 'Choose...' button is greyed out when editing an existing VL.

We are moving to new blades and I really don't want to re-create the VL from scratch and loose the existing network settings.

Hi Jesse,

Not sure there is any easy way to migrate your virtual lab to a new host, so I'm afraid you will need to re-create it with all network settings on the new host.

Yes, virtual labs are tied to a host. If you want to migrate it, then it should be re-created from scratch or you can try to use Advanced Multi-Host Virtual Labs.

This appears to be the case even with Advanced Multi-Host Virtual Labs.

We set up a multi-host virtual lab, but it was still tied to a single host from a configuration standpoint. We retired the host it was attached to, and now we can't view or edit the properties.

I an still run SureBackup jobs, but I can't edit or view the settings for the Virtual Lab. We would need to re-create the lab from scratch with no ability to even look at the old config to see how it was configured.

I'd like this to be a feature request - seems very odd to lock it to a host.

I have a better understanding and realize that it creates the needed network on the specified host only. I also understand that Veeam shouldn't setup the networking on all hosts. Also I recently spent weeks troubleshooting some surebackup jobs to realize someone vmotioned the proxy off the host it was installed on.

I would also like an alarm if the proxy isn't on the host it was installed on.

I know vMotion is out, but it would be nice to have a Move Proxy option in Veeam.

Still is.
Note that virtual lab is not just a simple VM to migrate - it is created alongside new isolated virtual network, assigned to specific resource pool and folder, connected to specific production network interface. All of those might not be present at the target destination, thus rendering virtual lab migration useless - you will have to recreate said resources at the destination anyway.

In case you use very hardcore virtual lab(multi-interface one), you can ease your migration(or shall I say, re-creation) process by utilizing powershell to retrieve vLab configuration from original target and create new one with same settings at destination.
In all other cases, New Virtual Lab wizard takes 2 minutes to click through.
