Disks of the VMware backup proxy VM must reside on the VSAN datastore

Post by StanoSedliak »

Hi,

as written here if you are doing backup of VMs running on vsan.
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=120

do you know why the disk of the backup proxy needs to be on the vsan datastore and can not be on some other datastore?
It is a Veeam limitation or vmware please?

Thank you!

Hi Stano,

It's a VMware limitation, for instance a similar one is mentioned in this KB:
Target machine in vSAN datastore and backup proxy in non vSAN datastore is not supported as it’s a limitation since vSphere 6.5. As of now, there is no workaround to this and will be fixed in a future release.
Thanks!
