S3-Storage and zombie files

Post by jmc »

hello,

i use SOBR to backup my backups as capacity tier to a S3 storage. now i have the conlkrete assumption that after all the testing some backups and files are left on the storage that have no use anymore (zombies). unfortunately i can't really see anything useful with a s3 browser or even via webclient. veeam doesn't backup the vm's with names etc. anymore, but in various directories with files whose name can't be identified with anything.

is there a way to find out which files veeam still uses or to identify the correct backup files? the goal is to delete everything unnecessary.

the option to move the backups somewhere else to see what is left or to delete and redo everything is not an option as it uses up memory unnecessarily.

thank's
jeff

Hello JMC

I recommend to open a support case.
There is no supported way for manual deletion of objects directly on the bucket.
If there is a way, it should be done under guidance of our support specialist engineers.

We also need the logs to find out why this objects weren't deleted. Or it may happen again.

Best,

hello fabian,

no, it's not a bug. it's my fault that there are still files. so for testing i just deleted jobs and connected other backup servers.

i did a rescan, but i think that not all files are there. it's just a guess. can i somehow check if all needed files are there and if there are obsolete ones? then i can delete them manually via browser.
possibly also by powershell script.

thank's
jeff
