Feature Request: Enterprise Manager Restore-Scope by VM privilege

Post by speinkofer »

Hello,

we are looking for a way to allow Users, which have a certain right on a VM in VSphere on a VM to be able to do single file restores via the Enterprise Manager (Linux and Windows VMs) on these VMs. We've seen that for the Self-Service there is a way to enable only those VMs to be seen for which the user has a certain VM privilege. However for the Enterprise Manager Portal itself we can only limit the Restore-Scope manually, which means we'd need to manage the rights separately from VSphere which is very tedious and error prone. Would it be possible to add the "VM privilege delegation feature" also to the Enterprise Manager Role Definitions?

Many thanks in advance.

Hallo Stephan

Have you tried the self service portal with delegation mode?

Hi Fabian,

yes we did but it seems to only allow users define their own jobs and restore from theses jobs. We don't want users to be able to setup their own backup jobs but only restore data from a centrally defined backup job for the machines they already have permissions to view and manage in vSphere.
