Change copy mode with retain the data

Post by renatorichina »

Hi, is there a possibility to change the backup copy type of old "Legacy Nutanix Backup Copy" to the new "Backup Copy" type. I've created a new job, however it then copies all data again with the new job. Is there a solution, that i can change the copy job type but retain the already copied data - that's what i mean.

Hi Renato

Have you mapped the old chains to the new Backup Copy Job?
FastClone should be leveraged when upgrading "periodic" backup copy chains to the new format.

Hi Fabian

No not really, so how to process: i disable old copy job, create a new one, map the files from the old copy job? Is this somewhere described in detail?

Hi Renato

The procedure is documented in our user guide:
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... -copy-mode

Mapping to a new Job will create synthetic full backups for each machine.
If you use Fast Clone enabled filesystems like reFS/XFS, it won't require additional space. Without Fast Clone, the synthesized full backups will use the entire space.
