Initial Backup Copy Job interrupted, first Incremental much bigger

Other Question: In my initial Backup Copy the full backup from a vm was no transfered completely (network connection interrupted and then => the file size is to small). But i see the next transfered incremental was much bigger than a "normal" incremental of this vm.

Then in the backup explorer i see only the incrementals and not the initial full backup. And I can see the files from the vm in the file explorer, i think all is ok....

Veeam does not retransfer the initial full backup until its completely transfered? Is my backup chain in this case ok?

I split your topic from the other. We should use dedicated topics per question.
An unfinished incremental backup copy job will transfer remaining data in it's next session.

I can restore files from the incremental via the file Browser. So i think it's ok.
In my case the initial full backup was interrupted so, the next incremental will have all the data thats not in the initial full?

As you wrote I mean the Initial Backup Copy Job was interrupted, the backup job was always completely ok.

- type of backup copy job (immediate, periodic)
- backup format (per job or single file backup, per machine)
- Veeam version (v11 or v12)

Are you sure? V12 doesn't allow single file backup for new or upgraded copy jobs. Only legacy backup copy jobs may still use Single File Backup.

If it's a legacy backup copy job, then I can confirm the behavior. Completely transferred initial backup of a machine will already be stored in the VBK file. Interrupted initial backups from other machines will be stored in the first VIB file.

-single file backup i misunderstood you: I mean I get one file per vm from the backup copy job (per machine backup? backup job and backup copy job was completely new configured with a fresh installation of v12)
-v12 is correct

Hi

Yes. I checked the behavior in my lab.
There must be a vbk file. The restore point in the vbk file is marked as incomplete.
In the copy session after the failed backup copy, a VIB file is created. It contains the rest of the copied restore point.
For my test, I took the disk offline.

Yes i have also a vbk file (but it is to small for a full backup).
But so then it's all ok.
