Backup Copy from local storage / primary Backup Job immutability

Post by sdv »

If you have a jet database based repository, you cannot use backup copy jobs.
Perhaps its a design choice. But it would be nice to have that functionality though builtin:
1. Being able to create a Copy job from local storage (Jet DB repo) to Object storage repo with immutability
2. Being able to directly write to object storage with immutabilty instead of configuring a S3 object storage copy job with immutability. As it is right now customers need to have twice the S3 Object storage capacity to make use of S3 Immutability.

Hello Stefan

I moved your request from the other topic.
Thanks for both requests.

1) We currently don't have plans to provide copy jobs from jet database based repositories to object storage.

2) We know that immutability for primary backup jobs is important to our customers. Your request is noted as +1.

Best,
Fabian

Hi Stefan,

Speaking of being able to write backups directly to an immutable repository - would you expect your backups to become immutable for as long as your retention period lasts?
