Hi Handian,

Sure, it's pretty common. You can disable the stand-by drive and keep it from being used for backup jobs if you need a restore. Similarly, if your tape hardware supports library partitioning, you can create a partition with just the drive you intend to use for restores and load the necessary tapes to that partition, and then restore from within Veeam.

Hello David,

Let say 4th drive is disabled, when backup is ruuning then VBR will use 3 drives.
On same time when the backup is running i also want to restore the VM. This can be done by enabling the 4th drive? Or when i enable the 4th drive, this drive will automatically use for backup purpose?

Hi Handian,

In this scenario, the drive would be eligible for use with backup if the drive is not engaged in an activity. So a bit of planning would be required for the operation; if this is a scenario you envision causing difficulties, then a separate partition for now would be the best option.
