Question about metadata for replica

Hi.
We need some clarification for metadata location for replicas.

We have a scenario where we had:
- created replica job and in metadata location for replicas pointed to SERVER1
- ran a replica job only 1 time and in that job 54 out of 55 VM's got sucessfully replicated (1 failed)
- before running or retrying replica job we had to 'retire' SERVER1 which holded metadata location for replicas
- we have represented SERVER2 and edited replica job and change metadata to location SERVER2
- we haven't run replica job for 2nd time yet

1. What will happen in next run of replica job where metadata servers have been replaced?

2. Did we need to copy the metadata folder replica from SERVER1 to SERVER2 before running replica job for second time?

3. If we had copied replica metadata folder from SERVER1 to SERVER2 and then run replica job for second time, will we somehow corrupt something?

1. Metadata will be created from scratch for all VMs if there is no Metadata in the new location. Which leads to a one time longer run of the replica session to "calculate the disk digest".

2. No, not mandatory. But if you haven't run the job yet after changing the metadata folder, you can still move the metadata. Do not move it after the job has already run with the new location.

3. Copying the metadata to the new folder will actually be beneficial to your next replica job processing time. Recreating the metadata may lead to a longer replica session as it needs to recalculate all disk digests.

We have a Knowledge Base (KB) article that explains the process of moving metadata to a new repository. The KB doesn't mention version 12 yet; please let me check with our teams and update the KB if required.
