Hello Everyone
Been working with Veeam for a couple of months and am trying to figure out how to backup a Windows server thats hosting MSSQL database.
I dont have much experiance with Windows systems and could not find a clear steps to help.
Also I would like to know what type of service account I need and is a local admin enough? and do I need seperate user for the DB.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Re: Backing UP MSSQL server
Hello Faisal
Permissions for "Veeam Agent for Windows and MSSQL server" are documented in our user guide:
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... processing
You can either use the guest credentials (the one you use in the protection group to connect to the machine) or specify a dedicated user account to connect to the MSSQL server for log truncation and log backup.
Let us know if you have additional questions.
Best,
Fabian

Re: Backing UP MSSQL server
Hello Faisal
Yes, a local administrator account is required.
Using a DB user is optional. You can give the "local admin account" permissions on your MS SQL server.
Best,
Fabian

Re: Backing UP MSSQL server
Hello Mildur ,
Thank you for your response and now my configuration is working but I am trying to enable application aware processing.
Is it possible to just pass the SQL sa account or does it have to be local admin with permissiom on MSSQL?
