Is there a product manual available for Veeam Backup 6?

Post by polaris20 »

Hello,

Apologies if I'm completely missing it, but I'm wondering if there's a product/instruction manual for Backup 6. I am now beginning to use NFS stores for datastores, and I am getting warnings in the backups. I'm sure there's a proper way to do it that's different than backing up from local VMFS stores, but I just need to read the documentation. Help?

Thanks,

Jeff, what kind of warnings are you getting?

All the product documentation is available under the Resources tab on the product web page.

"Direct SAN Connection not available, failing over to network mode"

Thanks for the link, and thanks for your help!

You cannot use direct SAN access mode with NFS storage, this is covered in the sticky FAQ topic. But you can use the Virtual Appliance mode instead. Thanks.

Yeah, just noticed that, after reading that in the manual. I had done a default install of V.6, and it apparently sets it to best case transport mode on its own. Up until this week I didn't even know there were multiple modes; it just worked!

I think I'll end up converting the transport mode over to appliance, and see how that goes.

The phrase that most vendors would like to hear about their product: "it just works!"

Hi Polaris,
It took me a while to find it, but to answer your other question (where is the user manual):

from the main page click on 'Veeam backup and replication' in ''products'
click 'download free trial'
sign in
below ther veeam binarys you can find the user guide

No need to sign in, I gave the direct link to documentation in my first post in this topic.
