What's the roadmap info for Proxmox' Instant Recovery and Replication features

Post by SB_MTIT » 2 people like this post

We're moving completely off of Vmware for all of our clients due to Broadcom's change of business direction.
Two features we seem to be missing for Proxmox is Veeam's Instant Recovery (the most important in our opinion) and also VM replication.

I was going through VeeamON 2025 and there was nothing mentioned at all. Is there any information on timelines for these two features at least?
I read there's a new API that Proxmox released so I'm hoping for some insight here. Please let us know, it's very hard to advise clients with hopes, and not concrete info or timelines.

Yes + 1 to hearing when we can expect these features in Veeam for PVE!

+1 for a roadmap

It would be so awesome to see the new API implemented for native Backup/Restore support from the PVE GUI 8)

+1 on the topic as well as any Surebackup roadmap...

I'm at my "creek meets paddle" moment. I have 85 days before I throw VMWare completely in the trash as far as my Veeam system goes. THANKFULLY my main VMWare environment is on 7.0.3. I'll ride that until the wheels fall off or I finish my Proxmox installation.

You mean until support ends in October for vspher 7.

ditto for us, i believe there is an issue doing a restore from vmware environment into PvE version 9. doinga backup of PvE setting hardware correctly allows backups nad restores but to restore from vmware into PvE 9.x doesn't work

Hi Jason

Proxmox version 9 is currently not supported and is most likely the reason you're seeing issues https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/vbpro ... html?ver=2

No response on this subject. Is there a roadmap for Veeam on PVE at all?
I am holding several VMware-to-PVE migration projects just because of Veeam for PVE missing the Instant Recovery AND Replication features.

Any news on this? Veeam, please let us know something.

This is simply a duplicate topic, someone already linked the existing discussion in one of the existing posts above, and I already commented in that topic.

Yes, there's a roadmap and of course every feature in high demand is automatically in the roadmap and is being evaluated for each next release vehicle. How fast we can execute on the roadmap will depend on other priorities coming from the business. This is why we don't usually announce future functionality far in advance or at least until it is implemented and is in hands of QA.

At the same time, I realize the information that something is on the roadmap in principle is quite useless for you tactically when you're talking about "holding a few migration projects" which implies a few months. And neither of these features will be released in a few months. The next immediate release is GA of V13 in November, and V13 What's New document has already been published.
